Greetings, musicalologists![]
P. D. Q. Wiki is a collaborative effort to reveal all the musical spoofs in Peter Schickele's (July 17, 1935 – January 16, 2024) works.
Skeptics claim that P.D.Q. Bach, the last and oddest of Johann Sebastian Bach's twenty-odd sons, never actually lived, but how can we dispute the extensive research of Professor Schickele, who wrote the composer's definitive biography? This wiki documents the many musical inspirations he drew on, including those that were written after his lifetime. Few other composers have achieved this level of plagiarism.
Most of P.D.Q. Bach's music is available as sheet music from Presser. Some of the works have never been released as recordings but are available in Presser's catalogue.
P.D.Q. Bach Books, DVDs, and CDs are available from the Schickele Shoppe.
An earlier version of the content was based on "The Key of P.D.Q." by Gary McGath.
